Natural Impact

Contemporary and elegant, reflecting Neterwala and Aibara’s design ethos, these new age homes in the garden city of Bengaluru by MAIA Estates are steeped in luxury.

Merging design with nature and amenities – key attributes in a quintessential Bengaluru home – 27 Summit, a development by MAIA Estates exemplifies contemporary aesthetics for the cosmopolitan residents of the Garden City. Boasting of large windows, high ceilings, neutral toned wall panels, wooden architraves and functionality in its fullest form, this apartment (currently for show) is designed for MAIA Estates by interior design firm, Neterwala and Aibara.

Deck

We are welcomed by a 9 ft tall main door, standing on an intricate, patterned marble floor in beige and grey with brass inlays, that leads us into a spacious interior spread across an area of 5,500 sq ft (approx.). “The brief from MAIA was to create a design space that would really stand out, from anything else we’ve seen in Bengaluru. A prospective buyer should feel right at home as they walk into an expansive interior space, surrounded by greenery and decks on all sides of the apartment,” says designer duo Neterwala and Aibara from their three decades-old bespoke design practice based in Mumbai.

Dining Area

The moment you step in, you feel the openness and scale of the space, with its ample natural lighting, thanks to large windows and glass façades. The four-and-a-half bedroom apartment comprises a living room, dining area, living deck, drawing room, patio, chef’s kitchen cum bar, master bedroom deck, wet kitchen, and a utility and staff quarters. All areas are tech-enabled with mood controls depending on the time of the day. Interestingly, “The idea to use the patio differently, came about during the pandemic,” shares Mayank Ruia, founder and CEO of MAIA Estate, revealing how it was previously visualized as a dining deck. Further adding, “The final design treated the patio as a wonderful transition area, bringing in lots of greenery and light. It is a place where one can enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book or even use it as their home office,” proving more depth to the overall floor plan. Turns out, the patio was indeed, the most challenging, and eventually the most appealing space.

Bar Area

“Three key aspects that were extremely integral to MAIA while developing this project were double-height ceilings to indulge in a spacious, pillarless floor plan allowing homeowners a free-flowing space,” says Mayank. “Floor-to-ceiling windows for a seamless indoor make for an outdoor experience. And, large double-height decks allow nature to flow into the home.”

Bedroom

Creating an uncanny depth are a blend of harmonious colour tones, materials, and textures. Tinted veneers and muted marble arrangements in shades of grey appear seamlessly either as panellings or through door architraves along with muted tones of green and blue in all the furnishings.

Wardrobe

Adding pops of colour are exquisite artworks in select areas. Richly textured paint with accentuating brass inlays is complemented by wooden panellings. Functionality without breaking aesthetics has been a key driver for this space and can be seen through the smart storage options that are concealed within the walls, not impacting the look and feel, along with a well thought-out furniture layout. Needless to say, a touch of Neterwala and Aibara never disappoints!

Lifestyle Insider is a kind of junction point, connecting people with diverse interests that touch on the more luxurious aspects of lifestyle – fashion, design, travel, food and spirits, art, watches and jewellery, cars, yachts, and aviation, and technology. People today don’t fit into boxes and categories. In our individual ways, we are interested in diverse themes, products, and the challenges that face our world today. You will judge how well this effort of mine caters to your passions and proclivities.

Lifestyle Insider is a showcase of all that is beautiful and luxe. Behind every creation, is a designer, chef, entrepreneur, or a design maison. I have delved into my own appreciation for objetsde luxe that I have admired over the years – be it a love of fashion from the world’s top Parisian and Italian fashion maisons and their ’90s muses, or the care that goes into sari and Indian textile collections in my own family. Growing up on four continents, as the daughter of a former Indian Ambassador, I’ve seen a remarkable array of historic places and met a myriad people. My aim is to bring my world view into this website, a curation of what I find particularly stunning, unique, and newsworthy.

It’s an exciting time for brands all over the world. With change comes opportunity. With the global ‘reset’ and uncertainty on many fronts, there is a chance to write a new script. Let’s be those pioneers.
