The Big Blue

Take a dive into the wonders of the ocean at this tropical and nature-inspired resort in the Maldives.

OBLU HELENGELI - VILLAS - Two Bedroom Beach Suite with Pool

The Maldives means a sense of freedom and abandoning yourself in the vastness of the big blue ocean. After nearly two years of being confined to limited spaces and movement, a resort that focuses on water, nature, and wellness, is truly a slice of paradise. Oblu Nature is all about celebrating a carefree natural environment in the Helengeli Island in Maldives – an island that’s renowned for its spectacular house reef – just meters from the shore. The natural channels on both sides of the island bring a plethora of tropical fishes and biodiversity, making the house reef a diver’s paradise at Oblu Nature.

A thrilling 50-minute speedboat ride from Malé International Airport brings you directly to Helengeli island. After your trip, you are rewarded with the welcome sight of clear turquoise water and white sandy beaches encircled by swaying palm trees. Take a dip for a rendezvous with your new aquatic friends – majestic sea turtles, reef sharks, octopi, manta rays, and colourful shoals of fish – a wholesome nature experience, much beyond a typical four-star resort.

Oblu Nature, surrounded by lush green vistas and a locally inspired design environment, is a serene place where one can find barefoot happiness. In its 116 standalone beach villas (including 22 Beach Villas, 64 Deluxe Beach Villas, 28 Water Villas with Pool, and two Two Bedroom Beach Pool Suites) located in the most extraordinary corner of North Male Atoll, Maldives, you can relish the private lagoon experience with the Deluxe Lagoon Pool Villas located half on land, and half on the water, with a unique view of the horizon, and direct access into the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.

Vibrant, modern aesthetics, warm tropical colour accents, and cozy furnishings such as driftwood desks and starfish-shaped lights add to the tropical vibe. All beach villas come with beach essentials, amenities, and a mini bar. Experience high-quality world cuisine, at The Spice, the all-day dining for local Maldivian cuisine and international cuisine. Or head to the Hedhikaa Hut for delicious Maldivian deep-fried snacks. Or if you love seafood and meats, Just Grill is perfect, with its island setup and grilled delicacies. At Helen’s Bar and Pool, there’s a chic, bohemian vibe to either indulge in cocktails during the day on comfy sun loungers, or to end the day with bar nibbles, and sophisticated drinks and mocktails.

OBLU HELENGELI - Watersports – Kayaking Dive near the corals

Brimming with an array of the best water sports in the Maldives, Oblu Nature Helengeli is the perfect destination for water lovers. There’s a range of activities, and unlimited use of snorkelling equipment (plus paddle boards, kayak, and pedalos), excursions, and local island visits. Kayak over crystal-clear waters, zip across the lagoon on jet skis, or just float on the water, and soak in the golden sunshine. Or indulge in tow-sport, flyboarding, kneeboarding, waterskiing, parasailing, and jet skiing.

OBLU HELENGELI - ELENA Spa Ayurvedic Treatment

And after a hectic (or relaxed day) at the beach, end the day with a wonderful treatment using natural and holistic therapies at EL I NA The Spa.

With its island-inspired, bohemian vibe, Oblu Nature Helengeli is an ideal getaway for everyone – from families and couples to avid explorers, snorkellers, and channel divers.

Lifestyle Insider is a kind of junction point, connecting people with diverse interests that touch on the more luxurious aspects of lifestyle – fashion, design, travel, food and spirits, art, watches and jewellery, cars, yachts, and aviation, and technology. People today don’t fit into boxes and categories. In our individual ways, we are interested in diverse themes, products, and the challenges that face our world today. You will judge how well this effort of mine caters to your passions and proclivities.

Lifestyle Insider is a showcase of all that is beautiful and luxe. Behind every creation, is a designer, chef, entrepreneur, or a design maison. I have delved into my own appreciation for objetsde luxe that I have admired over the years – be it a love of fashion from the world’s top Parisian and Italian fashion maisons and their ’90s muses, or the care that goes into sari and Indian textile collections in my own family. Growing up on four continents, as the daughter of a former Indian Ambassador, I’ve seen a remarkable array of historic places and met a myriad people. My aim is to bring my world view into this website, a curation of what I find particularly stunning, unique, and newsworthy.

It’s an exciting time for brands all over the world. With change comes opportunity. With the global ‘reset’ and uncertainty on many fronts, there is a chance to write a new script. Let’s be those pioneers.

A bit about me:
A luxury and fashion journalist with 25 years of experience in publishing and magazine journalism, I have edited some of India’s top fashion and luxury magazines. I got my BA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley, and went on to receive my Master’s in English and French from the University of Strasbourg, France. I have also studied German and Film. I live in Gurugram, India, and look forward to once again exploring our world with a new-found freedom.
