A Cozy Alpine Style, à la Ines

UNIQLO’s latest collab collection with lifestyle icon and symbol of French chic, Inès de la Fressange. The UNIQLO / INES DE LA FRESSANGE 2021 Fall/Winter collection is LifeWear that reflects the iconic model’s cozy, “effortless French style”.

The inspiration for the 2021 Fall/Winter collection was the Swiss village of Rossinière, beloved by artists for its beautiful mountain scenery. Located in the Lake Geneva district, the pastoral scenes of meadows stretching over the mountain valleys has had a profound influence on many painters. Rossinière is known for the Grand Chalet villa, the historical cultural heritage site that was the final abode of the late artist Balthus. It is also the place where Inès spends her Christmas holidays. A comfortable wardrobe with a hint of nostalgia is ideally suited to a relaxing holiday in such bountiful nature. This season’s collection once more delivers the sophisticated and relaxed stylings characteristic of Inès.

Born and raised in France, Inès became a top international model soon after starting her career at the age of 17. She became renowned as the muse of several top fashion houses and is today a style icon in fashion circles. In 2013, she relaunched her own brand, Inès de la Fressange Paris, and continues to work as an art director.

It would be appropriate to use the word ‘cozy’ for this new lineup that radiates nostalgia and warmth. From a base of beige moss-green earth tones, the many items offer an expanded range of stylings such as cashmere blend knit ponchos, and 3D Knit dresses with a simple yet shapely and attractive silhouette. The collection includes items with check patterns or lovely small floral accents, ensemble knits in a gorgeous lambswool material, and a characteristically Ines style of masculine jacket. Small items such as berets and reusable shopping bags in a wide variation of patterns are also included. This is a smart collection that adds a touch of colour to everyday life.

Lifestyle Insider is a kind of junction point, connecting people with diverse interests that touch on the more luxurious aspects of lifestyle – fashion, design, travel, food and spirits, art, watches and jewellery, cars, yachts, and aviation, and technology. People today don’t fit into boxes and categories. In our individual ways, we are interested in diverse themes, products, and the challenges that face our world today. You will judge how well this effort of mine caters to your passions and proclivities.

Lifestyle Insider is a showcase of all that is beautiful and luxe. Behind every creation, is a designer, chef, entrepreneur, or a design maison. I have delved into my own appreciation for objetsde luxe that I have admired over the years – be it a love of fashion from the world’s top Parisian and Italian fashion maisons and their ’90s muses, or the care that goes into sari and Indian textile collections in my own family. Growing up on four continents, as the daughter of a former Indian Ambassador, I’ve seen a remarkable array of historic places and met a myriad people. My aim is to bring my world view into this website, a curation of what I find particularly stunning, unique, and newsworthy.

It’s an exciting time for brands all over the world. With change comes opportunity. With the global ‘reset’ and uncertainty on many fronts, there is a chance to write a new script. Let’s be those pioneers.

A bit about me:

I got my BA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley, and went on to receive my Master’s in English and French from the University of Strasbourg, France. I have also studied German and Film. I live in Gurugram, India, and look forward to once again exploring our world with a new-found freedom.
